Love Thy iPad

Cult of Mac: Why the iPad Is the Most Hated Gadget Ever.

Interesting article, but it’s not like the iPod wasn’t the same way. It didn’t take off as fast but as soon as it did everyone wanted one and all other MP3 players were seen as inferior even if they weren’t. But don’t get me wrong, I’m on the love side when it comes to my iPad.

Probably my favorite laptop ever, the IBM Thinkpad T42p. My first Macbook Pro was great and I really like my current Macbook Pro, but that Thinkpad was the first nice laptop I bought. Up to that time I’d been using Dell Inspirons, whatever was reasonably current. I loaded this one out and ordered using a friend’s employee discount (thanks Ian) to save 20%. The screen was so much better than anything else available at the time and that keyboard was famously good. I’m sorry I sold it but it eventually got slow and I replaced it. It was just sitting around so I sold it before the warranty expired. Maybe I could be reunited with it like that guy in the Chevy commercial with is old car!

We are the maverick

Quote

No 1989 major airline has survived without bankruptcy except Southwest. We are the maverick. We are different. Thats how we have prevailed with a Warrior Spirit, a “Never Give In” resolve, and a burning desire to be the very best. The sloth-like industry you remember competing against is now officially dead and buried. We fought them, and we won.

I was blogging back in 1998. Here’s a link to my old old site, agnostic llama dot com. Didn’t use a CMS, just updated the text file.

Looks like I started the blog the last day I worked at Netdoor on 11/17/1998. I had just left my engineering position downtime and got hired to my first IT job. I was doing Access development and soon to be Oracle.
