Yahoo! News: Online poker players face legal issues.
The House bill that would ban Internet gambling — except for horse race betting and state lotteries — is an attempt to close a perceived loophole in the 1961 Wire Act, one of a series of laws meant to crack down on racketeering.
Bullshit, bullshit, bullshit! How the fuck in is betting on games or playing poker any different than betting on horses? Crackdown all they want, the internet has made the world flat. PartyPoker and others can operate from Costa Rica, Aruba, the Isle of Man, Gibraltar, or wherever and there’s nothing Congress can do about it. They’ll try to stop payments from the US via credit cards, etc. to the sites but there will always be a way.
